ABOUT WILLIAM A. DIEHL

William A. Diehl (1917-2009) was a man with an indomitable work ethic.  Born in Defiance, Ohio, he attended Defiance College and Purdue University before graduating from The Ohio State University in 1938.  Diehl served as a captain in the Army Air Corps in China and in India-Burma during World War II.  He was actively involved in the family business for 75 years, serving as president of Defiance Milk Products/Diehl Inc. for 40 years.

A hallmark of the Diehl family's business success has been its ability to innovate and adapt to changing market forces.  Although the company was originally founded as a brewery, it grew into a milk condensory and then a supplier of dried foods and specialty ingredients.

In memory of William A. Diehl, the Diehl Family Foundation has generously provided the funding which makes these two fellowships possible.

The Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions is an Ohio based free market think tank.

The Buckeye Institute has provided the research and solutions to Ohio's toughest public policy challenges in economic freedom and competitiveness, job creation and entrepreneurship, and government transparency and accountability for 18 years.
