Nationwide is one of the largest insurance
and financial services organizations in the world. We rely heavily on the
creativity and expertise of the Office of the Chief Legal Officer (OCLO) to
counsel and guide our portfolio of businesses. The OCLO is a highly
sophisticated in-house legal department with over two hundred attorneys on
staff spanning numerous practice areas.
What is The Summer Law Clerk Program?
Nationwide’s Summer Law Clerk Program provides
an opportunity for exceptional law students to experience the work done by our
in-house attorneys, and potentially garner a full-time position upon
graduation. If you are talented, innovative, and team oriented, Nationwide may
be the place for you.
Nationwide’s Summer Law Clerk Program is
designed to attract and develop candidates who could become future leaders in
our organization. Our program will help you build and sharpen key legal
competencies necessary for success in any legal career.
The Summer Law Clerk Program Offers:
- Project Assignments: You will work on a broad-range of assignments in many legal areas, which may include:
- corporate litigation
- insurance law
- financial services and securities
- regulatory and legislative issues
- mergers and acquisitions
- business law
- intellectual property
- employment law
- Coaching and Feedback: You will have the opportunity to receive constructive coaching and feedback throughout the program.
- Professional Networking: You will have the opportunity to meet and work with people from a wide variety of groups within Nationwide, from attorneys, government relations and compliance professionals, to individuals across our business units- including sales, finance, marketing, and claims.
Who Should Apply?
We are looking for law students who can
demonstrate that they have what it takes to become a future leader at
Nationwide. Our ideal candidate possesses all, or most, of the following
qualifications:
- First year law student (1D or 2E)
- High academic performer (Top 30%)
- Work experience prior to law school
- The ability to think critically, strategically, and creatively
- A strong commitment to learning and teamwork
All applicants must have permanent
authorization to work in the United States.
